BH Telecom end-users can enjoy new triple-play services enabled by NSN. Key to the project are NSN switching and broadband access solutions to optimise BH Telecom's legacy assets, as the company advances towards an all-IP network of the future.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's biggest operator of mobile and fixed networks, BH Telecom, can now offer its subscribers a broad spectrum of new next generation services, including fast Internet, VoIP and IPTV, while retaining the simplicity of its network and keeping costs in check. By implementing Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) switching and broadband access solutions to optimise its legacy assets, BH Telecom is confident it is moving towards a futuristic all-IP network.
Nokia Siemens Networks is providing efficient call switching and broadband access, and enabling triple-play services (Fast Internet, IPTV and VoIP services) for BH Telecom subscribers across the whole network. The solution consists of the softswitch (hiE9200), Media Gateway, Multi Service Access Nodes (MSAN) along with the network management system and allows the operator to retain full control of its traditional voice business. At the same time, BH Telecom has begun to enjoy the benefits of the IP core equipment (which helps simplify the network and improves consumer experience) and to migrate to an all-IP based infrastructure in the future.
"We have commenced our evolution to a Next Generation Network in the best possible way - offering advanced end-user services without disrupting our current voice business," said Nedzad Residbegovic, General Manager of BH Telecom. "We intend to maintain them (NSN) as our strategic supplier, paving the way for our future migration to an all-IP environment."
"While next generation networks are the new buzzword, there is no denying that today's killer application continues to remain voice," said Dino Miljkovic, in charge of Nokia Siemens Networks relations with BH Telecom. "...Through a simple softswitch solution that does not complicate the existing network, we enable operators to take the leap to IP-based services along a highly cost efficient route to NGN."
* BH Telecom is a provider in the areas of PSTN telephony, mobile telephony, Internet services and data transfer mission. BH Telecom's visions include providing universal communication services to all of its 2 million users in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 2008. With this new deal, Nokia Siemens Networks builds upon a 15 year relationship with BH Telecom.
