Malaysian telco Maxis says that its B2B arm Maxis Business has partnered with Nokia to launch what it claims is Malaysia’s first quantum safe networking (QSN) solution for government agencies and businesses.
Officially launched on Tuesday, the QSN managed service encrypts data in transit directly at the optical layer, securing critical data against future quantum computing threats such as the "harvest now, decrypt later" threat in which data intercepted today could be decrypted by quantum computers in the future.
Maxis said the QSN service is aimed particularly at critical industries with strict data integrity and data sovereignty requirements, such as banking and financial services, healthcare and the public sector.
Maxis chief enterprise business officer Prateek Pashine said that QSN adds a future-proof layer of security to the telco’s fibre connectivity services – especially its Data Centre Connect solution – for enterprises, cloud providers, and financial institutions relying on data centre interconnects and high-capacity fibre links.
"In an era of escalating cyber threats, securing today's data against tomorrow's risks is a critical imperative for any organisation,” Pashine said in a statement.
"By combining Nokia's carrier-grade platforms with quantum-safe encryption across Maxis's network, Malaysian businesses can future-proof their operations without compromising on speed or reliability,” added Ming Kin Ngiam, head of Southeast Asia South for network infrastructure at Nokia.
