ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines, a Globe Teleco joint venture, announced the expansion of its footprint in Asia by constructing a data centre campus in the Philippines.
The campus (STT Fairview), will be situated in Quezon City and spans 83,000 square metres across four buildings. It has a development potential of 124 megawatts of IT load capacity once fully built out, noted STT GDC in a statement.
It will be "carrier-neutral" and have access to nearby substations, as well as critical telecommunications, transportation links, logistics, business and industry hubs.
The site will serve local enterprises as well as international hyperscalers. It will be ready to connect to another data centre campus called STT Makati enabling it access to local and international service providers, internet exchanges and submarine cable systems.
ST GDC Southeast Asia CEO Lionel Yeo (pictured, far right) noted the Philippines data centre colocation market is poised to grow with a five-year CAGR of 25% through 2027 and that “hyperscale demand is on the uptrend.”
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines) is a joint venture between Globe Telecom, Ayala Corporation and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.
Globe Group president and CEO Ernest Cu said: “With the Philippines’ digital transformation gaining headway, STT GDC’s new facility will be an important addition in the data centre space in the country, where the market is underserved.
“This will provide crucial support for the growing digital industry not just in the country but also in the region, and will set a new standard of sustainability-driven data centres in the Philippines.”
