Brazilian ISP Unifique acquires regional player for US$2m

Brazilian broadband provider Unifique struck a deal to acquire regional provider Brick Servicos Digitais for BRL10 million (US$2 million), reported BNamericas.

Brick has been in operation since 2012 serving around 7,000 households and businesses in the city of Gaspar.

Unifique broke down the deal stating that it will pay 51.6% of the agreed price in cash upfront and the rest will be in consecutive instalments for 36 months.

On integrating both businesses, Unifique said it will lease Brick’s network with a purchase option while migrating customers to its network, as it already operates in Gaspar.

Unifique has a 2% market share of Brazil’s fibre broadband market which equates to 625,000 accesses; 79,700 fixed telephony; 25,100 pay-TV contracts via fibre, reported BNamericas citing Anatel data.

The internet service provider has a fibre network that stretches 30,000km in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, where it has been running 5G trials since December. It has an obligation to cover cities with p to 30,000 inhabitants with a 5G signal by 2030, which Unifique calculates to 421 cities in Brazil.
