ECI Telecom has won a contract from Togo Telecom, that country's incumbent fixed-line operator, to deliver an end-to-end turnkey solution for a new high-speed IP network in the country. The turnkey project will create one of the first Fibre-To-The-Curb (FTTC) networks in the region, providing residential and business customers with high-speed Internet access and VoIP services.
With national fixed-line broadband penetration still in single digits, the added capacity allows Togo Telecom to alleviate the growing demand for bandwidth-intensive services in the country.
At present, ECI is implementing the first phase of the three-phase project, deploying its XDM 1000 Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) across the network and installing its Hi-FOCuS Multi Service Access Node (MSAN) platforms in over 300 street cabinets nationwide.
ECI is managing and executing the project, including the network audit, planning and design of the FTTC solution, sites survey, installation and commissioning, network integration and solution optimisation. The flexible infrastructure platform will allow Togo Telecom to scale up its network to provide higher bandwidth services in the future, including IPTV.
"This project...allows Togo Telecom to focus on its core business of delivering market-leading services to customers, without the additional burden on its day-to-day operations," commented Itzhak Ronen, Corporate Vice-President, Middle East and Africa, of ECI Telecom.
