ZTE announced on Friday it has launched a joint initiative with Colombian telco ETB (Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá) to jointly deploy all-optical networks across key regions in Colombia, including Bogotá, within the next three years.
Under the project – which was launched during a ZTE event in Mexico City – ETB will deploy ZTE's end-to-end all-optical solutions, as well as its Wi-Fi 7 home broadband solutions.
ZTE and ETB said the project aims to provide improved digital access services for homes, education, healthcare, and small and medium-sized enterprises across Colombia.
ZTE added that its optical access solutions are cost-effective and rapidly deployable, which will lower construction barriers for areas outside Colombia’s urban areas and enable faster rollouts.
ETB CEO Diego Molano Vega said the initiative’s goal is to make broadband a “creator of opportunities” for Colombian users.
“Through the partnership, Colombian users will enjoy a significantly enhanced digital experience across education, work, healthcare, and transportation,” Vega said in a video statement.
“We will deepen local cooperation, drive continuous innovation, and jointly explore new models and directions for network development,” added Song Shijie, VP of ZTE and GM of fixed and multimedia products in international markets.
