India’s Constl taps Nokia for nationwide DWDM transport network

Space World Group subsidiary Constl said on Thursday it is partnering with Nokia to deploy a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical transport network across India to meet demand for webscale, cloud and AI-driven traffic.

Under the deal, Constl will deploy Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) platforms to create high-capacity metro and data centre interconnectivity across its pan-India fibre footprint. No financial details were disclosed.

Constl said the rollout will kick off in Mumbai and extend from there across key national corridors connecting Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi over its national long-distance network.

“By bringing together Constl’s nationwide fibre footprint with Nokia's advanced photonic technology, we're laying the foundation for the next generation of digital innovation in India," said Space World Group chairman and founder Ankit Goel in a joint statement.

Vito Di Maria, Nokia’s Asia-Pacific VP for optical networks, said its 1830 PSS platform will provide “the high-capacity, ultra-reliable foundation needed to power next-generation AI, cloud services, and seamless digital experiences.”
