The market-leading operator in Zimbabwe is deploying a solution for optimising QoS across its mobile network. Econet Wireless will implement Astellia’s vendor-independent solution on its 2G and 3G networks, as well as receiving support from Astellia’s consulting team in a contract worth €1 million.
The solution allows the operator, which has 69% of the market share with 5.6 million subscribers, to monitor network performance. The partnership will enable the operator to gain end-to-end insight over its mobile network performance for both voice and data services. This will contribute to guarantee the highest quality of experience to its subscribers.
The solution features Packet Service Monitoring, an advanced module designed to evaluate the quality of experience perceived from an end-user perspective for data services such as MMS, emails, video streaming and Internet. It will enable Econet’s optimisation team to detect and investigate problems such as slow web browsing due for instance to congestion, inefficient transaction procedures or faulty handsets.
“Following our network expansion and upgrade phase, our focus now is on making sure the equipment we installed is optimised and able to provide an efficient, reliable service to our subscribers. The Astellia solution will help Econet monitor the performance of our services, and to recommend actions where needed to continually enhance the quality of experience of our customers.” said Mr Douglas Mboweni, CEO at Econet Wireless.
