A leading Bulgarian operator has implemented a monitoring solution to augment its quality of service (QoS). Globul, a subsidiary of OTE Group member Cosmote, has deployed Alcatel-Lucent’s 9900 Wireless Network Guardian (WNG) network management solution to monitor and enhance its wireless broadband network.

The solution will allow Globul to analyse how its network is performing in order to meet the service quality expectations of its customers. The system will provide valuable information in times of continuously rising use of video and other mobile data services, including real-time analysis of network performance. Information gained from the system will help Globul to enhance the network operations and customer support as well as to offer subscribers other services that may be of interest to them.

“The Bulgarian Telecom market has shown dramatic growth in data traffic over the past few years and it is promising to grow even faster in the near future. Globul is committed to providing a secure and reliable connection over our high-speed Wireless network and the Alcatel-Lucent 9900 WNG will help us to do this”, said Globul Chief Technical Officer Apostolos Pagkoutsos.

Globul is the trademark under which Cosmo Bulgaria Mobile EAD offers mobile telecommunications services in Bulgaria. The company is 100% owned by Cosmote (member of OTE Group), the operator with the strongest presence in Southeast Europe. As of the end of September, 2011, Globul has about 4.2 million subscribers, while its services are available to 99.98% of Bulgaria’s population, covering over 99.25% of the country’s territory.
