Orange Jordan announced on Wednesday it has become the first telco in the country to offer satellite broadband services for consumers and enterprises via the Eutelsat Konnect satellite.
The service launch comes after parent company Orange and Eutelsat formed a multi-year partnership last month under which Orange will use the Konnect satellite to offer satellite internet services in Africa and the Middle East.
Apart from Jordan, the partnership also initially covers Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the aim of gradually extending to all countries in the region.
Orange Jordan said its satellite service is designed to provide secure, reliable, and accessible Internet access to remote areas, with data speeds up to 100 Mbps. It’s also tailored for both B2C and B2B customers to meet the connectivity needs of customers in diverse locations, including residential buildings and farms.
Orange Jordan CEO Philippe Mansour said in a statement that the telco is the only telecoms service provider that offers an integrated package of internet services that includes satellite access along with fibre, ADSL, 4G and 5G.
