Kacific Broadband Satellites Group announced on Tuesday it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Telco Integrators (TI) to expand satellite internet, broadband, and voice services across Pakistan.
The alliance between the three companies aims to combine Kacific’s satellite broadband capabilities with PTCL’s telecoms infrastructure and TI’s technical expertise to deliver reliable, affordable and scalable broadband solutions to underserved areas in the country.
Unxer the terms of the MoU, PTCL will provide core telecoms infrastructure, including its terrestrial fibre cable network from Khyber to Karachi, as well as its access to international subsea cables. TI will serve as Kacific’s local service enabler to support deployment and operation of satellite-powered internet, broadband, and network services across Pakistan.
The partnership will also jointly promote and distribute Kacific’s broadband services to telecom operators, enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Aamer Ejaz, Group VP of PTCL’s carrier solutions business, said the partnership represents “a major milestone” in enhancing digital connectivity across Pakistan.
“PTCL will play its role in extending impactful services to areas previously beyond reach, acting as a catalyst for socio-economic development and digital inclusion,” he said in a statement.
The deal marks Kacific’s third Pakistan deal this year, which kicked off in March when Kacific officially entered the Pakistan market via a partnership deal with satellite operator Paksat International and Pakistan’s national space agency, the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
Under that deal, Kacific and Paksat are using 11 Ka-band spot beams on the Paksat-MM1 geostationary satellite to deliver high-throughput capacity for over 20,000 sites in remote regions for communities, businesses, government agencies, ISPs, and telcos, to include mobile backhaul and backup connectivity.
Earlier this month, Kacific signed on telecoms and data network service provider Supernet as an authorised reseller of Kacific’s products and services.
Kacific CEO Christian Patouraux said that with over half of Pakistan’s population lacking access to reliable broadband, its services will help close Pakistan’s digital divide and empower remote communities, businesses, and public institutions with reliable broadband access.
“Together with PTCL and Telco Integrators, we can drive meaningful change through satellite-powered connectivity,” he said.
