Eutelsat said on Wednesday it has signed a new agreement with India-based maritime communications firm Station Satcom to incorporate Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO satellite services into its maritime connectivity portfolio.
The new agreement will see Station Satcom – which has been a longtime customer of Eutelsat’s geostationary satellite services – adopt a multi-orbit solution that blends the reliability and coverage of GEO satellites with OneWeb’s high-speed, low-latency performance to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for vessels operating along major shipping routes and in remote offshore environments.
This will enable Station Satcom to meet growing demand for real-time data, operational efficiency, and improved crew welfare, while also supporting the digital transformation of global maritime operations, said Station Satcom CEO Anshul Khanna.
“This is a game-changer for the maritime sector at large,” Khanna said in a statement. “By integrating OneWeb’s LEO satellite service, we can now offer seamless connectivity for ship owners, crew welfare and offshore operations.”
Thierry Polycarpe, VP of Global Maritime at Eutelsat, added that the agreement “reflects the growing demand for high-performance connectivity at sea.”
