Chad and Azerbaijan agree to cooperate on satellite services

Chad’s Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) announced on Thursday it has signed an MoU with Azerbaijan's state space agency Azercosmos to strengthen bilateral cooperation in satellite services.
In a Facebook post, ARCEP said the MoU aims to promote economic, industrial, scientific, technical and technological cooperation in areas including spectrum management, geographic information systems, remote sensing, satellite communications, satellite operations and ground systems, along with the regulatory aspects of each.
ARCEP and Azercosmos agreed to explore commercial opportunities in telecoms, video broadcasting, data services, teleports and ground stations, as well as the development of joint initiatives integrating space technologies, artificial intelligence and earth observation services.
The MoU also calls for cooperation in areas such as digital transformation, development of innovation hubs, and export of digital products.
The MoU also covers skillsets training and development via implementation of educational programs for teachers and students in collaboration with the Azercosmos SPACE Academy, as well as the organization of summer schools, the deployment of educational satellite programs and joint educational initiatives.
ARCEP said the MoU was signed during an official mission to Azerbaijan led by Dr Boukar Michel, Chad’s Minister of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalisation of Administration.
