Russia’s increasing need for business communications capabilities has prompted VimpelCom to sign a capacity deal with SES World Skies in order to increase the volume of its services in Eastern Siberia and the Far East of Russia.
By using 36MHz of C-band capacity and the West Hemi beam aboard SES World Skies’ NSS-9 satellite, VimpelCom will be able to increase the capacity of its Beeline satellite network on Russian satellites, and will provide for the active development of its mobile network in the regions using Russian Express satellites.
NSS-9 is an all C-band satellite featuring three beams that can be interconnected on a transponder-by-transponder basis. The West Hemi beam currently covers Australia and much of eastern Asia.
