Slovak Telekom integrates new charging solution

The largest operator in Slovakia, Slovak Telekom, is updating its legacy charging system with a new solution from Oracle.

The Network Charging and Control 5.0 solution will help the communications service provider (CSP) reduce new service time-to-market and costs as well as support prepaid, postpaid and hybrid subscribers.

When the migration to the new platform is complete, the solution will provide industry-standard, future-proof and commercial-off-the-shelf technology that will support evolution to an all-IP infrastructure. In addition, it will reduce customer impact during the transition process by enabling revenue and business continuity.

The solution will serve as the charging foundation for Oracle Communications intelligent policy and charging solutions, which will smoothly integrate advanced analytics and second-generation policy controls with online charging capabilities, enabling full data usage monetization and improved decision-making.

Slovak Telekom offers a comprehensive portfolio of multi-play data and voice services for fixed and mobile networks to individuals, households and business customers.  The company operates in a very challenging and dynamic market and seeks to gain a competitive edge by replacing its legacy prepaid charging solution to increase service innovation and reduce costs.

“With the growing popularity of data-based services, CSPs must create new, innovative offerings and pricing promotions to meet constantly increasing customer expectations.  However, too many CSPs are currently dumping resources into simply maintaining existing legacy charging infrastructure, rather than investing in innovation.  Oracle Communications can reduce this IT complexity and help providers, like Slovak Telekom, drive revenue growth,” said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manger, Oracle Communications.
