ZTE announced on Friday that Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has commercially deployed a simplified 5G site solution developed by both companies to make Telkomsel’s 5G network rollout easier, cheaper and more energy-efficient.
According to ZTE, the customised UniSite 1+2+3 solution deployed on Telkomsel's network simplifies the existing 15 wireless modules per site to just six, which reduces tower space usage by over 60% and can cut energy consumption by approximately 20%, both of which can result in substantial cost savings.
A. Moelky Furqan, VP of Planning and Network Architecture at Telkomsel, said the solution will enable it to deliver 5G services quickly, ensuring scalability to meet future demand.
“By deploying compact, high-performance hardware at each site and lowering energy use, we can roll out 5G faster, greener, and more efficiently – extending our coverage, elevating the customer experience, and fuelling the nation's digital economy,” he said in a statement.
ZTE VP Tang Xue said the UniSite 1+2+3 solution features advanced chip technology, a new Super-N Power Amplifier, and AI-driven algorithms, with comprehensive integration across multiple dimensions, including frequency bands, sectors, channels, and antennas.
