Ericsson announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Zain Bahrain to supply RAN gear to the operator’s network capacity and enhance coverage of its 4G and 5G networks.
Under the terms of the deal, Ericsson will provide radio products and site enclosures such as its triple-band Radio 4823, which provides doubled uplink throughput by reusing existing antennas.
Ericsson will also provide its AIR 3285 dual-band FDD Massive MIMO radio, optimized for weight and size, which the vendor says is simplifies rollouts in high-capacity sites to meet increased demand for uplink capacity.
Meanwhile, Ericsson will also supply its triple low-band Radio 4486, which promises improved low-band spectrum performance and a better user experience at the cell edge.
No financial details were disclosed.
“By investing in modern, sustainable infrastructure, we are ensuring that our customers, whether they are gamers, entrepreneurs, or enterprises, enjoy faster, more advanced solutions,” said Zain Bahrain’s acting CEO Ammar Al-Ketbi in a statement. “This investment also lays the foundation for tomorrow’s digital services in the Kingdom.”
Ericsson has been a key supplier for Zain Bahrain’s 5G network since 2019. Zain launched commercial 5G services in 2020.
