Slovenia newcomer Tusmobil chooses Nokia for GSM/EDGE network

's mobile community has recently welcomed Tusmobil to its ranks of operators. Tusmobil recognises the challenges that face it, not least image-building, creating a mobile infrastructure and network, and signing up customers. Nokia is the company Tusmobil has selected to help it confront these very challenges... Slovenian greenfield operator Tusmobil has selected Nokia as its GSM/EDGE core and radio network supplier. Nokia will also operate 's network, allowing it to focus its management activities on building its image, creating mobile services, and acquiring customers. Nokia is confident that Tusmobil will quickly enter the Slovenian mobile market and offer a wide range of services right from the network launch, which is expected to take place this May.

In providing managed services, Nokia takes responsibility for the operation and maintenance as well as customisation of Tusmobil's network, allowing the operator to concentrate on business start-up activities. Nokia will also integrate value added services into Tusmobil's network, and will provide care and training services. The network will be supported by the Nokia NetAct network and service management system.

Nokia will also supply Tusmobil with a GSM/EDGE radio and core network infrastructure including Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station, Nokia Ultrasite EDGE Base Station, Nokia MSC Server mobile softswitch, Nokia Flexi Intelligent Service Node (ISN), Nokia Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN), and transport network.

Core network and services deliveries have begun, and radio network deliveries are underway. Nokia's new Flexi EDGE Base Station is claimed to enable operators to introduce Nokia's best-in-class radio performance to their networks while minimising site-related costs. Flexi EDGE is the latest variant in the family of Nokia Flexi Base Station products.

* Tusmobil, together with its affiliates, will be the first company on the Slovenian market to offer the Quadruple Play package, which combines Internet, digital television, and both stationary and mobile telephone services. Tusmobil is part of the Tus business system, which, with a growth rate of 17%, is one of the most rapidly growing retailers in Slovenia. Tus is also involved in entertainment, recreation, culinary arts, and energy resources.
