Nokia supports Tizeti’s FWA rollout in Nigeria

vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel get 10 years to pay AGR dues

Nokia is to provide Nigerian mobile operator Tizeti with an LTE fixed wireless access (FWA) solution for high-speed internet services in Nigeria.

Tizeti is a fast-growing wireless internet service provider in Nigeria and Ghana, delivering high-speed unlimited Wi-Fi internet access to estates, offices and multi-tenant buildings using next-generation wireless technology.

With the help of its Fastmile and LTE technology, Nokia says that Tizeti will be able to provide superior internet services to over one million subscribers in Port Harcourt, Edo and Ogun in Nigeria.

Tizeti will deploy Nokia's AirScale base station TDD-LTE and Fastmile FWA gateways to deliver premium internet and virtual private network services to residences as well as small and medium enterprises.

The solution will also enable the operator to deliver a more robust, high-speed internet service to subscribers and give Tizeti the flexibility to seamlessly evolve to 5G fixed wireless access when needed.

Nokia’s FWA solution will, it says, enable Tizeti to fast-track broadband access and provide best-in-class broadband experience to its subscribers. Nokia’s AirScale base stations will also enable Tizeti to evolve the network in line with customer demand.

Nokia explains that its Fastmile gateways connect wirelessly to the existing network to create a fast broadband connection and enhanced Wi-Fi experience in the home. The Nokia Network Services Platform will help Tizeti to simplify operations and quickly respond to changing market demands.

This is the second broadband-related announcement from Nokia in as many days. Yesterday Nokia and Filipino broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions announced plans to deploy fibre-to-the-home ultra-broadband services on the island of Mindanao.
