Kyivstar restores east, south connectivity as Russia retreats

Ukrainian operator Kyivstar restored connectivity services in the south and eastern parts of Ukraine, as Russian troops retreat from key locations such as the region of Kherson.

In a translated statement, the operator stated it had brought back online base stations in the liberated locations of Kherson, Snihurivka, Staryi Saltiv, Lisne and Velyki Khutory.

In one day of bringing its network back online, the operator saw 17,000 minutes and 232GB of data used in the city of Kherson, where three base stations have been brought online with efforts continuing to expand this further. Reuters reported Kyivstar has brought its signal back to half of the city of Kherson.

Home broadband was brought back to the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region as over 50 buildings in the liberated city are already connected to high-speed data transmission.

Despite the ongoing conflict in the country, the operator stated it had built more than 400 new 4G base stations, as well as modernised 6,200 existing base stations to increase mobile internet speed between January and September this year.
