Vodafone Idea expands 5G in Karnataka with launch in Mysuru

Indian telco Vodafone Idea’s network expansion continues with the launch of 5G services in Mysuru on Friday, making it the second city in Karnataka to be added to Vi's 5G coverage.

Vi launched 5G services in Bengalaru last month. The telco also offers 5G in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Patna.

Vi said the launch is part of its planned 5G rollout across cities in its 17 priority circles where it has acquired 5G spectrum. Last month, Vi said it will deploy its 5G network in 23 additional cities across India.

Vi noted that the 5G launches in Mysuru and Bengalaru come hot on the heels of the operator’s recent upgrade of its 4G network in Karnataka by deploying additional spectrum in the 900-MHz, 1800-MHz and 2100-MHz bands across thousands of sites,

Anand Dani, Vi’s business head for Karnataka, said the upgrades – implemented over 14 months from March 2024 to May 2025 – have resulted in a 41% capacity increase in Karnataka, which means enhanced coverage, faster data speeds, and a better user experience.

“With our next-gen 5G alongside our robust 4G services, we aim to provide more options and an enhanced experience to our users,” Dani said.
