Thai state-run operator CAT Telecom has had its claim against True Move thrown out by an arbitral tribunal.
CAT launched the claim in September 2011, alleging that True had flouted their concession agreement by deducting interconnection charges prior to tallying the final amount owed. CAT was seeking THB11.95 billion ($381 million) in compensation.
However, True was handed a victory when the court ruled that the charges constituted an expense rather than revenue, meaning that the operator owes CAT nothing.
The decision was the second court win for True inside one week, as last week the country’s Central Administrative Court ruled that TOT was not legally able to demand unpaid access charges from True as this was counter to regulations.
