LTE compliant solutions will be heavily sought after to enable seamless roaming between 3G and the growing number of LTE networks. With global LTE deployment currently standing at 105 networks in 48 countries, operators will be looking to deploy LTE compliant solutions, with fallback to 3G, to optimise service delivery, boost network flexibility and optimise network performance.
Big Data Analytics will make a name for itself during 2013. Analytics will be used extensively to create new insight from existing data. Analytics perform database searches for current as well as historical data to unearth valuable information and hidden patterns. The attraction of Big Data is that it discovers data already generated, meaning it comes from a dependable source. This information will be effective in assisting mobile operators to make better business decisions.
The 2014 EU Roaming Regulation promotes free subscriber choice in choosing a roaming provider and will create further competition and challenges between network operators and new industry players. Throughout 2013, operators will be readying their networks to tackle this new regulation, by providing support for ARPs (Alternate Roaming Providers) and LBO (Local Breakout), in a bid to secure subscriber loyalty.
