Lithaunia’s Communications Regulatory Authority (Rysiu Reguliavimo Tarnyba, RRT) has outlined its auction plans for 5G-ready 700MHz spectrum.
Scheduled for early 2022, the tender will see one 2×10MHz block and two 2x5MHz blocks made available at respective reserve prices of EUR5 million and EUR3 million (USD5.8 million and USD3.5 million). Licences will have a validity period of 20 years.
The RRT stated that interested parties will only be able to bid on one block of spectrum at auction, and must register their interest by 25th January 2022.
CommsUpdate notes that winning bidders will be required to meet various obligations, including launching commercial 5G services in at least one of Lithuania’s five largest cities (Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys) within six months of receiving their licence. All five must be covered by 31st December 2023.
