Caller IDs will be mandatory in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s digital regulator the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) announced caller IDs will appear on all phone calls from next month, a move to safeguard callers from scammers.

Saudi Gazette reported, that the CST announced it had completed all draft technical specifications for the displaying of caller names and numbers, which must be always displayed in call logs, and devices must be able to receive and display caller names and numbers across all types of technologies.

The purpose of the new service is to improve the reliability of calls received from legal entities to users and ensure communication networks are compatible with mobile phone manufacturers. It will also aim to employ modern technologies to reduce spoofing calls and protect users while reducing reliance on unreliable programs and applications that violate caller privacy.
