Chinese technology company Lenovo has announced plans to establish a regional headquarters (RHQ) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, along with the appointment of its executive leadership team for the country, marking what Lenovo describes as a key milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy.
This announcement forms part of Lenovo’s strategic collaboration with ALAT, a Public Investment Fund (PIF)-owned company launched in 2024, which aims to create a global sustainable technology manufacturing hub in Saudi Arabia focused on advanced industrials and electronics.
As part of this collaboration, Lenovo and ALAT broke ground in February this year on a 200,000 square metre advanced manufacturing facility in Riyadh. Reuters says the manufacturing facility is expected to begin producing PCs, laptops, smartphones and servers from 2026.
Lenovo has appointed a veteran of the company, Lawrence Yu, as the head of the new headquarters in Saudi Arabia, Giovanni Di Filippo, former President of EMEA ISG, as general manager, and Zoran Radumilo, a former senior executive at industrial AI and software company IFS, as the company's technology chief.
The regional HQ will support Lenovo’s broader regional strategy, including investments in a flagship retail space, VIP customer centre, R&D, marketing, and strategic partnerships across Saudi Arabia.
The company claims that its initiatives in Saudi Arabia, including the RHQ, flagship retail space, and the Riyadh-based manufacturing facility, are projected to contribute up to US$10 billion to non-oil GDP by 2030.
