Boingo launches in the Yangtze Delta along with China Telecom

Boingo Wireless has added 10,904 China Telecom hotspots to the Boingo Roaming Network in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces and Shanghai; the locations are the first three of 18 provinces and three municipalities that will be added to the Boingo network. With the addition of these locations, Boingo members will enjoy broadband connections throughout the Yangtze Delta, including airports, hotels and cafés...

Boingo now includes an aggregated network in the Yangtze Delta that includes popular destinations such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou and Hangzhou, as well as hotel chains including the Howard Johnson Hotel group and Holiday Inn and popular restaurants and cafés such as KFC, McDonald's and Starbucks. Other locations include conference and convention centres.

When a Boingo user is in China and opens up a Web browser in a China Telecom hotspot, there will be two ways to log-on. The user can login using their Boingo credentials via the China Telecom hotspot website or sign in directly from Boingo's software client.

"With the first phase of the China Telecom launch in the Boingo Network, Boingo users have access to more than 10,000 hotspots in the most popular provinces," said Allen Pan, Director of Asia-Pacific Business Development for Boingo Wireless. "When the full network is launched, Boingo users will have access to close to 20,000 hotspots throughout China, one of our most popular destinations for both business and leisure."

China Telecom owns the highest marketshare of fixed and wireless broadband customers in China as well as operating the largest commercial Wi-Fi network in the People's Republic. In turn, Boingo gives consumers the best choice of Wi-Fi hotspots by combining more than 100,000 locations from 150 leading Wi-Fi operators into a single worldwide network spanning 90 countries.
