Pakistani telco Ufone 4G says it has partnered with domestic digital healthcare platform Oladoc to bring affordable and accessible healthcare to millions of Ufone’s subscribers across Pakistan.
The partnership between Ufone and Oladoc aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access between urban and rural areas. Most doctors in Pakistan are concentrated in urban centres, but 62% of the population resides in rural areas. Consequently, primary health facilities in remote regions are often under-resourced, forcing families to travel long distances for even basic medical needs.
The two companies signed an agreement on Tuesday to combine Ufone’s nationwide reach with Oladoc’s network of over 25,000 doctors and specialists, which they say will enable Ufone 4G subscribers in underserved communities to access timely consultations, preventive care, and essential medical services without leaving their hometowns.
Oladoc enables users to book in-person and online appointments with medical professionals while also offering lab test bookings, medicine delivery, surgery scheduling, and corporate wellness programs.
Under the deal, Ufone 4G customers can use the Oladoc app to arrange free video consultations with doctors, and receive discounts of up to 20% on in-clinic appointments, up to 40% off on lab tests for both home sampling and lab visits, up to 10% off on medicine delivery, and up to 30% off on surgery bookings.
The subscription plan – which is exclusively for Ufone 4G prepaid customers – is being offered with daily, weekly and monthly payment options, with the latter priced at PKR60 (a little over US$2.00) per month, plus tax.
