Telkomsel and TTC form marketing partnership in Indonesia

Indonesian market leader Telkomsel has signed a partnership agreement with mobile marketing firm TTC Mobile.

Under this agreement Telkomsel and sister company Kinarya Slaras Solusi will team up with TTC to perform mobile marketing and mobile surveying, improving consumer insights in Indonesia. Telkomsel customers will be able to share their views through the TTC survey platform.

With this collaboration TTC will be able to engage in conversation with millions of Indonesian mobile users on a personal level, increasing its global reach from 100 million mobile users to nearly 250 million. The firms’ combined expertise will allow them to reach the right potential target audiences directly by delivering customised messages based on criteria such as demography, behaviour, personal interests, location and handset type.

Marlin R Siahaan, General Manager Digital Advertising at Telkomsel, described the partnership as “a unique opportunity and an innovative service to further zoom into profiling and customer behaviour, one of Telkomsel’s main drivers for the years to come. It is also perfectly in line with our goal of offering mobile products that create the opportunity of improving the quality of Indonesian people’s lives.”

The forecasted surveys and campaigns will be on social and developmental issues, such as health, agriculture and social and economic development, but could also be on what type of product or service people like most. The campaigns and surveys will be performed for the benefit of NGOs, international aid organisations, commercial businesses and research agencies.

Participating in the surveys is free. To further improve the customer engagement and increase brand loyalty the campaigns and surveys come with a reward system (mobile airtime, benefits, voice calls, and bonus data). The aim is to educate people and to help organisations around the world to better understand people’s opinions, interests and ideas in Indonesia.

Bas Hoefman, Co-Founder and CEO of TTC, said: “This partnership greatly contributes to our goal of giving people the opportunity to participate in global discussions and articulate their needs, and will lead to better services and products for Indonesians. With Indonesia’s mobile internet landscape rapidly gaining traction we see growing opportunities for online surveying and marketing campaigns”.

Indonesia is growing to become the 7th world’s largest economy by 2025 and has a population of over 250 million people. With a steady GDP growth of around 6% a year, increasing buying power and a rapidly growing middle class it has become an important growth economy. Indonesia has currently over 178 million mobile phone users, of which Telkomsel has a 57% market share with over 140 million subscribers. 45% of Mobile phone users have internet enabled phones, 34% of these are smartphone users and 74.3% are feature phone users.
