Ooredoo Qatar announced on Sunday it has launched a new location analytics and intelligence solution that leverages the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)'s TASMU Platform for smart city solutions.
The new “Ooredoo Flow” platform aims to provide organisations with anonymised, aggregated data through the broad coverage of Ooredoo’s 4G and 5G services. Ooredoo said its platform – powered by the TASMU Platform – processes over 200 million data points daily, capturing data from more than 4.3 million unique devices.
The data provides insights into key demographic trends, such as age, gender, and commuting patterns, which “empowers businesses to make informed decisions to better serve their customers without compromising individual privacy”, Ooredoo said.
The telco also said Ooredoo Flow adheres to the “highest ethical standards” and is fully compliant with Qatari laws and regulations.
“Our collaboration with MCIT ensures that Ooredoo Flow is not only a smart and secure solution, but also a crucial tool for advancing our nation's digital transformation,” said Ooredoo Qatar CEO Sheikh Ali bin Jabor Al Thani in a statement.
The TASMU Platform, launched in 2021, is a smart city solution built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud infrastructure that aims to be a single point-of-contact for citizens, service providers and other smart city ecosystem players to drive adoption of smart solutions.
According to a statement from Microsoft issued at the launch event, the TASMU platform functions as a digital marketplace that streamlines coordination of public services across five sectors: transport, healthcare, logistics, environment, and sports.
