dLocal, a cross-border payment platform for emerging markets, has announced what it calls an expanded relationship with financial technology company PayPal to offer businesses access to payment processing and local payment methods in more than 40 new untapped emerging markets.
By leveraging dLocal’s platform, global customers of the PayPal Enterprise Payments service can now easily accept cards and process local and alternative payment methods across Latin America, EMEA, and APAC markets without needing to establish local entities.
dLocal’s platform will handle both B2B and B2C payment flows, making it easy for businesses to connect with local customers and suppliers. As a result, says dLocal, merchants will gain access to a number of potential benefits.
For example, merchants using the dLocal platform can now access new global customers and process payments locally with minimal technical resources required, as they can leverage their existing PayPal Braintree integration and stored card information. Braintree is the former name of PayPal Enterprise Payments.
According to news resource Electronic Payments International, this initiative is expected to result in increased authorisation rates due to the preference for domestic cards by local acquirers. Additionally, it says, businesses may benefit from access to one single platform that manages both local and international payments.
dLocal CRO John O’Brien says: “Partnering with industry leaders like PayPal reflects dLocal’s commitment to helping global businesses succeed in high-potential, emerging markets.”
He adds: “We are proud to integrate with PayPal’s Enterprise Payments solution, enabling their customers to tap into the full potential of these markets and access to over 40 untapped countries.”
