One of the Philippines’ largest network operators, Globe Telecom, will now be able to manage its network changes via a Network Operations Centre (NOC), guaranteeing data integrity and improving service assurance. The second phase of Globe Telecom’s NOC implementation has been completed by the solutions provider Clarity.
The project scope extends the Globe NOC service assurance capabilities to support the operator’s fixed line business. By providing a single, integrated solution to manage their multi-vendor, multi-technology Network Management Systems (NMS) and Element Management Systems (EMS), Globe is able to manage network change centrally across its entire network. Providing a centralised solution for next generation and legacy network elements increases operational efficiency and reduces costs. The solution improves service quality levels by providing a consolidated view of the underlying network and services using common tools, processes and knowledge.
Manuel Lorico, Head of Fault and Configuration Management at Globe, said: “Clarity’s Unified OSS gives us an integrated view of the technologies driving high-quality convergent telecoms services across both our wireless and fixed line businesses. The solution is imperative to give us executive visibility across our networks and allows us to deliver a consistently superior experience to our more than 24 million customers.”
Clarity has been working with Globe since 2007, when it was commissioned to provide Inventory Management and Service Assurance functionality for their wireless network. It was also tasked with building an entirely new NOC; which included the implementation of NOC infrastructure and associated NOC tools, to improve network performance, fault management and customer experience. In 2008 it went on to provide configuration management for Globe’s expanding 2G and 3G wireless networks. The expanded solution provided a valuable tool for change management, resulting in improvements in data integrity.
“Globe required an end-to-end solution that provided visibility of processes across the entire network. This includes the rollout of new services, streamlining processes, improving data integrity and allowing quick and easy diagnostics of network operations to automatically identify and correct faults across both their wireless and fixed line businesses”, said Jon Newbery, Chief Executive Officer at Clarity.
