Indonesian market leader adopts proactive approach to customer monitoring

The largest mobile operator in Indonesia is introducing proactive monitoring to its network in order to predict, prevent, and prioritise network issues for its 121 million customers. Telkomsel is using Alcatel-Lucent’s suite of Proactive Services to allocate resources to guarantee network availability and ensure uninterrupted service. This will enable Telkomsel to define key performance indicators based on industry benchmarks to provide optimum performance and reporting.

The initial agreement between Telkomsel and Alcatel-Lucent focuses on proactive monitoring of the optical communications network that Telkomsel uses for the transport of data services such as video, high-speed Internet access and other applications. The agreement’s scope also provides coverage for third party optical equipment in the network.

Bobby Rasyidin, the President Director of Alcatel-Lucent Indonesia said: “Our solution provides efficient and effective measurement of service quality, enabling the system to recommend actions to Telkomsel to ensure their services remain best-in-class.”

Alex J. Sinaga, the President Director of Telkomsel said: “Telkomsel understands the importance of a proactive approach for managing network performance so as to maintain customer satisfaction.”
