Ukraine is laying the foundations for the advent of 5G, with the country’s Cabinet of Ministers approving a plan aimed to boosting mobile quality within the next two years.
According to Liga.net, the plan proposes that Ukraine adopt national standards on implementing 5G that would bring the market in line with European ETSI standards on the new technology.
To this end, the government has signalled that it will approve new amendments aimed at expediting 5G-capable frequency allocations before the end of the year, reports TeleGeography. The amendments will also enable technology-neutral use of mobile spectrum.
Speaking via his Telegram channel, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said: “We are talking about the implementation of European approaches to the quality of communication and electronic communication services. Part of this plan will include provisions that will make it possible to further introduce 5G technology in Ukraine.”
