Intersec: Yann Chevalier's 2014 Trends

If Big Data’s technological potential for new services enablement reached a peak of expectations during last year, 2014’s focus will rely on big data monetization.

MNOs are aware of the value that can be extracted by efficiently aggregating and correlating data related to customer events, an extremely profitable resource available within their own networks. The success of big data monetization is directly linked to personalization and situational awareness in order to allow the creation of contextual use cases.

2014 will be marked by the creation of innovative initiatives related to location-enriched services (such as the joint-venture Weve in the UK) not only in mature, but also emerging markets. In fact in some of the most advanced emerging mobile markets, MNOs are already seizing the opportunity of positioning themselves at the core of a new ecosystem by developing location-enriched services to multiple industries.

The increasing low-cost smartphone penetration and the network upgrade deployments during the year will benefit the development of mobile broadband consumption in emerging markets, intrinsically changing the customer mindset. Such strategic opportunity requires MNOs to surprise every single customer and engage with them through real-time contextual interactions.

Yann Chevalier is the Chief Executive Officer at Intersec.
