BIGL implements new billing for Bangladeshi market

Bangladesh International Gateway Limited (BIGL) has deployed a new interconnect billing solution supplied by i-conX solutions.

BIGL is a subsidiary of USD $2.2bn Bangladeshi conglomerate Sunman Group, whose portfolio also includes leading WiMAX operator Banglalion. The company was awarded its new IGW licence in 2012 by Bangladeshi regulator BTRC, who imposed demanding timescales for commercial launch.

BIGL are responsible for managing international voice traffic flowing in and out of the country, channelling traffic to and from the ASN carriers via locally based ICX (national transit) carriers as part of a process that is unique to the Bangladesh telecoms market.

As a condition of the licence award, BTRC imposed a number of demanding reporting requirements, with which all operators were expected to comply before live launch could take place. These covered a number of critical areas such as accredited audit control and the requirement to supply BTRC with data in order to define tax payments. These requirements are delivered via the i-conX Reporting Services suite.

BIGL has set its goal to reform the voice industry in Bangladesh, with the vision of becoming the primary service provider of choice for all international voice communication services in Bangladesh. Their focus for achieving this goal is via exemplary customer service.

BIGL President & CEO Mr Rashed Uddin commented : “We now have a state of the art billing solution that allows BIGL to quickly and efficiently manage traffic within the complex Bangladesh telecoms market. The solution delivers the information and outputs we require, via accurate billing and business intelligence reports.”
