Is Poland’s Aero2 disappearing from the market?

Polish wireless operator Aero2, an affordable mobile operator, with the legendary Free Internet Access (BDI) offer, will merge with the operator cellco Plus (Polkomtel).

Both firms are part of the Polsat Plus Group (formerly Cyfrowy Polsat). Aero2 operates 3G and 4G networks across Poland.

According to local media reports, the merger will be carried out in a simplified way, with all Aero2 assets, valued at almost PLN 230.9 million, transferred to Polkomtel.

Though a merger plan was signed on September 8, 2021, no specific merger dates were given. However, the operator of the Plus network probably wants to finalize the transaction as soon as possible, especially since it does not have to report it to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and has decided to disclose its intentions to the public, said reports.

Aero2 is a virtual mobile operator that has been operating on the market since 2008. The operator offers unlimited and completely free Internet access with a speed of up to 0.5 Mb / s under its own brand.

Aero2 together with Polkomtel is a shareholder of Premium Mobile, which currently serves approx. 425,000 SIM (70% are contract customer cards).
